Ibland kommer det saker till en som man aldrig hade förväntat sig. Så är det med de här likörglasen som jag köpte för ett antal år sedan. Jag fick då veta att glasen hade tillhört Tsar Nikolaj II. Tsaren hade ett sommarställe i Hangö i Finland i början av 1900-talet. När revolutionen bröt ut 1917 tog Kejsardömet slut och sommarbostaden i Hangö togs över av andra. Då såldes husets ägodelar och allt bohag skingrades och försvann ut i tystnaden. Senare gavs de här glasen till en man för förtjänstfullt arbete på Fazer, som då låg i staden, och i samband med detta fick han då veta att glasen kom från Tsarfamiljen. Jag köpte glasen från familjen till mannen som hade fått dem som gåva.
Glasen är 12 stycken slipade handblåsta likörglas i kristall, de är mycket vackra i sin glans och med den estetiska slipningen. Glasen är 8 cm höga och mäter 4 cm i diameter i öppningen. Alla är i perfekt skick utom ett som har två små nagg som syns på ett par bilder där jag har försökt att visa på skadorna.
Hangö Kex Ab var en finländskt företag som grundades 1910 i Hangö. 1927 togs fabriken över av Karl Fazer AB. Verksamheten upphörde i Hangö på 1970-talet då Fazer cetraliserade sin produktion till Vanda. Byggnaden i Hangö står kvar och är skyddade av Museiverket.
Antique Liqueur Glasses that Belonged to Tsar Nicholas II
Sometimes things come to you that you never expected. That’s the case with these liqueur glasses that I bought a few years ago. I then learned that the glasses had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II. The Tsar had a summer residence in Hangö, Finland at the beginning of the 20th century. When the revolution broke out in 1917, the Empire came to an end and the summer residence in Hanko was taken over by others. Then the possessions of the house were sold and all the household goods were scattered and disappeared into silence. Later, these glasses were given to a man for meritorious work at Fazer, which was then located in the city, and in connection with this, he learned that the glasses came from the Tsar’s family. I bought the glasses from the family of the man who had received them as a gift.
The glasses are 12 pieces of cut hand-blown liqueur glasses in crystal, they are very beautiful in their shine and with the aesthetic cut. The glasses are 8 cm high and measure 4 cm in diameter at the opening. All are in perfect condition except one which has two small chips which are visible in a couple of pictures where I have tried to show the damage.
Hangö Kex Ab was a Finnish company founded in 1910 in Hangö. In 1927 the factory was taken over by Karl Fazer AB. Operations ceased in Hangö in the 1970s when Fazer centralized its production in Vanda. The building in Hangö remains and is protected by the Finnish National Board of Antiquities.
