Drottning Desideria förblev katolik hela sitt liv även efter att hennes make konverterat till lutherdomen och bytt namn till Karl Johan . Även hennes son konverterade. Det krävdes aldrig av henne och hon tilläts att ha egna katolska mässor i ett privat kapell. Karl Johan besteg tronen 1818 och den här lilla psalmboken gavs ut år 1819 med kungens gillande . Psalmboken är som ett litet smycke , klädd helt i sammet med dekorationer i förgylld mässing . Sidorna är förgyllda på fronterna. Det finns tre initialer på bokens omslag som tyvärr är svåra att identifiera. Psalmboken är 11 cm hög och 7 cm bred. Boken är i oerhört fint skick trots att den är mer än 200 år gammal.
Psalm book from 1819
Queen Desideria remained a Catholic all her life even after her husband converted to Lutheranism and changed his name to Karl Johan. Even her son converted. It was never required of her and she was allowed to have her own Catholic Masses in a private chapel. Karl Johan ascended the throne in 1818 and this little book of psalms was published in 1819 with the king’s approval. The book of Psalms is like a little jewel, dressed entirely in velvet with decorations in gilded brass. The sides are gilded on the fronts. There are three initials on the cover of the book which are unfortunately difficult to identify. The book of Psalms is 11 cm high and 7 cm wide. The book is in extremely good condition even though it is more than 200 years old.
